About the Doctor
Dr. Alexander Lurie is a board-certified endocrinologist specializing in adult endocrine, diabetes, and metabolism disorders.
A graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, Dr. Lurie earned his medical degree at Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois and completed his residency at Rush University Medical Center. He received his fellowship training in endocrinology and metabolism at the University of Chicago Hospitals. Dr. Lurie is board certified in internal medicine and in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
Philosophy of Care
“Most of my time is spent in patient care,” says Dr. Lurie. “Many of the diseases within endocrinology can be complex and difficult for patients to understand. I think patients do much better when they can understand their disease and understand the pros and cons of treatment decisions.
Therefore, my priority is to develop good communication with patients. I try to help patients better understand their disease so they can make informed treatment decisions together with me. I also try to help patients cope with these diseases to make their life as easy and normal as possible.”
